Second Hand Cars for Sale at an Auction Is Not Without Risk

One of the smarter ways of finding second hand cars for sale is on the auction floor. But remember that buying a vehicle at an auction is not without its risks.

With thousands of repossessed vehicles ending up on auctions floors, buying one at an auction is certainly a good way of getting a vehicle at an excellent price.

Although the car and the paperwork can be inspected prior to the auction, test drives are not permitted, and you will not be able to have the car checked either.

The CAP also allows the vehicle to be sold foot stoods, in other words there is no duty for the auctioneers to repair the vehicle. Therefore if you do buy the car and find that it has a problem or if the car is out of warranty, then the onus is on you to have the car repaired.

Sometimes when the auctioneer advertises the second hand cars for sale as being a bank repo or a liquidated estate, there are also possibilities that the car could come from a car dealer.

If you are not in the “know” on how to buy a car at an auction, you could easily bid on a car that has come from a dealership.

When looking for second hand cars for sale, repossessed cars are often quite attractive compared to those from dealers even if you are not able to test drive the car before-hand.

Many second handcars for sale at auctions don’t come with service books or manuals. The “Viewing Day” offers the interested buyer the chance to look the vehicle over, therefore it is important to look the car over and to do your homework before. This is your chance to take a good look at the car you are interested in. If the car is a bank repo then ask the bank for the vehicle’s logbook, and if the car is liquidated, then ask for the court documents to verify this.
